Gutter guards
Guards cut how often someone has to be on a ladder. They are not a force field.
How I fit them
The trough gets cleaned out first and the downspouts checked. Then mesh or micro-mesh guards go on, sized to the gutter that is actually on the house. I choose the style for the trees in your yard, not for a catalog photo. Pine needles and sweetgum need a finer mesh than oak leaves.
What to expect after
Pines and sweetgum still shed fines. Some of that sits on top of the mesh and blows off; some of it needs brushing now and then. A guard means fewer climbs. It does not mean you never look at the gutter again. Anyone who tells you zero maintenance under pines is selling the brochure.
When guards are the wrong answer
If the gutter is pulling off the fascia, leaking at every seam, or pitched so water stands in it, a guard just covers the problem. I'll say so. One loose hanger can be reset on the visit. A gutter that needs rehanging end to end is a gutter company.
The wall under it
If the face of the gutter and the fascia have stripes, I can wash those on the same visit so the job looks finished.

Height
One-story gutters and most two-story runs can be reached safely from a ladder. If a run would be a stunt on a ladder, it goes on a lift with the rest of the job, and the lift is in the price. Ladders versus a lift.
